This vegan Korean strawberry milk is the most refreshing, delicious, and satisfying drink to have on a hot summer day or when you're craving something sweet! Made with 100% fresh strawberries, the combination of the natural strawberry flavours and the creaminess of the oat milk is just perfect!
Korean strawberry milk, or also known as strawberry latte, is a popular drink in cafés in South Korea. Unlike the kinds you would find in Western supermarkets, this version is made purely of fresh strawberries with no artificial flavouring or colouring. And what makes it even more delicious is the tiny strawberry chunks that add that extra strawberry flavour and a more interesting texture. It's kind of like drinking a bubble tea, except there's no tea and the bobas are chunks of strawberries! If you like strawberries, this drink is for you!
We used our favourite oat milk and granulated sugar for this recipe, so it is completely vegan and dairy-free! You can also use other dairy-free milk such as soy milk or almond milk, but our personal favourite is oat milk since it is creamier and we love the subtle oat-y flavour it brings to the drink. You can also use whole milk if you wish to use dairy, but you might have to adjust the ratio of strawberry syrup to milk.

How to make Korean strawberry milk
This recipe is super easy and does not take too long to make. All you need is a couple of basic ingredients and you can make yourself a café level yummy vegan Korean strawberry milk!
Ingredients
The list of ingredients you need to make this recipe is simple and easy to find in supermarkets.
- Strawberries
- Granulated sugar
- Oat milk (or any dairy free milk of your choice)
- Water
Strawberries: We prefer using fresh strawberries for this recipe, but you can also use frozen ones. Make sure to taste the strawberries before starting. Depending on the sweetness level of your strawberries, you might have to adjust the amount of sugar you put. The ones we used were fresh and sweet (normal-level sweet, not more sweet than usual), so we took this into account when we add the sugar.
Granulated sugar: We use regular granulated sugar as it is vegan and is neutral-tasting, so it doesn't influence the flavours of the strawberry milk.
Oat milk: We use Earth's So Fresh Own Unsweetened Oat Milk to make this recipe. It's our own personal favourite brand of oat milk. This oat milk is Canadian brand and can be easily found in Canadian supermarkets. But you can definitely use your own favourite brand of soy milk, or other dairy free milk of your choice such as soy milk and almond milk.
Steps to make the strawberry milk
- Heat the sliced strawberries, granulated sugar, and water in a small/medium pot over medium heat. Wait until it simmers, and let simmer for about 10 minutes. Be sure to stir and mix gently once in a while and make sure the heat is not too strong. After about 10 minutes, you should have a slightly thick syrup consistency, with chunks of strawberries. Remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes.
- Set a fine mesh strainer over a bowl and pour the strawberry mixture onto the strainer. Make sure you get most of the liquid through the strainer. You can use the back of a spoon to press the strawberry puree against the mesh strainer to squeeze out the most syrup. You can then transfer the strawberry puree to another bowl and set aside.
- Pour the oat milk into a glass and add in the strawberry syrup and some of the strawberry puree and mix well. Note that the quantities stated in the recipe is set according to our preferences, so feel free to adjust according to your own liking.

Korean strawberry milk is a popular drink in South Korean cafés made of milk, sugar, and fresh or frozen strawberries. There is usually no artificial flavouring used to make this drink.
We like to use oat milk. If you want to keep it vegan and dairy free, you can also use soy milk, almond milk, or any other dairy-free milk of your choice. You can also use whole milk for a non-vegan version, but you might have to adjust the amount of syrup you add in.
You can substitute the sugar with maple syrup to keep it vegan. But adding maple syrup can influence the flavour of the drink. You can also use brown sugar, though this also has a distinctive flavour and you might have to adjust the amount.
Yes, you can use frozen strawberries. We do suggest to let the strawberries thaw completely and taste it before starting to check for sweetness level. If your strawberries are less sweet, you might have to add more sugar than indicated in this recipe.
