The other day was my Mom's birthday and she made us a special request to eat at Portus 360, a restaurant in Downtown Montreal where you can enjoy your meal with a 360 view of Montreal. This place actually turns around! Without moving from your seat, you can see all around Montreal. It was a very nice experience and don't worry about feeling sick, you can't feel anything! It took about 2h30~3h00 to make one whole round, so it is very slow.

We started off by ordering some appetizers. I would definitely recommend the octopus. It is fresh, grilled and not seasoned too heavily so you can really taste it's authentic flavour. It is also one of the most tender octopus I hate and we asked the waiter how they achieved that texture and he said the chefs actually beat it hard before cooking it.

We ordered a salad which was nothing exciting - seasoned with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. All the ingredients were fresh.

My favourite appetizer, and maybe dish of the night, was the garlic butter shrimps. The shrimp were cooked to perfection, juicy and tender, and the slightly spicy garlic butter was just A-MA-ZING. I could seriously eat that sauce with anything because it was so good, I had to restrict myself not to eat all of it with the bread they have us. Do no skip on the shrimps!!!

Now for the main dishes, as we are not too familiar with Portuguese food, we decided to create our own tasting menu with the help of our waiter. The tasting menu came with a chickpeas puree and vegetables for everyone, and then some side dishes to share.

We ordered Arroz de Marisco as my dad wanted to order more carbs and our waiter suggested this dish. It was honestly just OK since to me it just seemed like it was rice in a tomato soup and I'm not the biggest fan of tomato in general but it wasn't bad either. It came with a lot of seafood (mussels, clams, shrimps and half a lobster). Unless you're really a fan of this dish, I would skip it!

We ordered the black cod and the chilean sea bass. Both were extremely good yet very simple. It was cooked so perfectly, the fish just melted in our mouth. Our family are fans of both of these fishes and it's been a while since we ate at a restaurant that really mastered them. Definitely recommend them!

Lastly, we had a beef prime rib. As you can see in the picture, it was a very big rib (35oz). Although our waiter told us this was meant for 2 people, we ordered it to share between 5 along with the other dishes and it was more than fine. The beef was medium rare as we like it and came with a mushroom sauce. Most of us liked to eat the meat without it since it was already seasoned and excellent.

We would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a spot for a romantic date or a fancy date. It was a different and unique restaurant that we really enjoy and we will definitely be coming back!
