    Green Smoothie Bowl

Although we do love our occasional pancakes with whipped cream or fried chicken with gravy sauce, we do try to eat healthy when we're at home. But let's face it, eating healthy is not always fun. No matter how much I want to like those Brussel sprouts, it's just an impossible mission for me. And sometimes you just don't have time to cook an elaborate healthy meal when you're on the run and you're tempted to just make that instant ramen noodle. But fret not my friends, this is when the hype and trend surrounding healthy eating comes in handy. We have so many new easy and delicious recipes and variations of healthy food recently that your choices are now more abundant than ever. Professional and home cooks alike are now not afraid to be creative with their food, so neither should we!

One of the healthy food trends that we recently have obsessed with is the smoothie bowls. Sure, smoothies are great, but have you ever thought of putting them in a bowl and eat them with toppings?? Not only does it make it more fun to eat and more interesting to look at, it also adds so much more flavours and textures to the smoothie. And making these smoothie bowls take literally less than 10 minutes, which is great for all of you busy hustlers out there. This time, we're making a green smoothie bowl cause let's face it, I need to up my veggie intake. And if you think it's weird to be mixing fruits and veggies, believe me all you're gonna taste is some delicious sweet fruity flavours. I used to think green smoothies are a bit weird (believe me, some really do taste weird), but not when you have the perfect proportions of each ingredients! Our recipe for green smoothie emphasizes more on the flavours coming from the fruits rather than the veggies. So basically it's like drinking a normal, delicious food smoothie but some extra nutrients coming from the veggies! After making this recipe, I'm a definite fan and I will for sure be making these a lot more. The steps to make this are ridiculously easy but I'm gonna talk to you about them anyways cause we had so much fun making these!

All you need to make the green smoothie are spinach, kale, frozen pineapples, and bananas. It's very important that you use a ripe banana since that's where the sweetness comes from. Also, if the bananas are not ripe enough, the smoothie may have a little bit of a tart aftertaste. So make sure you let those bananas ripe first! Once you have all that, all you need to do is put them all in the blender and blend until smooth. When you get the consistency that you want, transfer to a bowl and it's ready for some toppings!

The toppings we put on ours are according to our own personal preferences. So if you wish to put other kind of toppings that you feel will go well with the smoothie, then you do you! Now, the whole topping placement process is like an art to me, and the bowl of smoothie is my canvas (ok, maybe not). But we love to put effort on our food presentation, so this part is a lot of fun for us. You can also do this part however you feel would be best, and this is just how we felt like decorating ours. In case you're wondering about how we go about putting our toppings, we simply started by sprinkling some chia seeds along a line in the centre-left of the bowl. Then we proceeded to putting the fruits along the same line, and to finish the presentation we sprinkled some chopped dark chocolate and peanuts on top!

There you go. You have yourself a delicious and pretty green smoothie bowl that you made yourself in less than 10 minutes. It makes eating healthy a bit more fun, doesn't it? We put down the ingredients and directions summaries for you if you want to try, and as usual, happy eating!
